I'm currently employed at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Principal Technical Keynote Lead. This is a made-up job title used to describe a unique role we have here; a high-agency technical IC tasked with shaping and communicating our vision, corporate strategy, thought leadership, technical innovations, and products to the world. In this role, I work directly with the CEO, CMO, SVPs, and our most senior technical leaders (CTO, distinguished engineers, etc) . Starting from a blank sheet of paper, I steward the end-to-end ideation and execution for how we show up in the world - whether that's on a stage, an interview, earnings call, video, demo, in a product, or more. It takes a village, and each project involves spinning up a large team of stakeholders, vendors, and partners to make it happen. The most obvious of which, are our biggest keynotes (ex: at AWS re:Invent). On any given day, the nature of the work may be neither technical, nor keynote related.

This makes this job quite 1 of 1. Prior to this, I'd never had to figure out transcontinental shipping logistics for an F1 car, a yet-to-be-released AI server, or a quantum chip valued at more $/mm² than anything I'll likely ever touch again in my life. Nor had I ever been asked for advice by a foreign Prime Minister on how they should describe their nation's latest tech investments and initiatives to their citizens. I certainly can't forget brokering the naming of a frontier compute cluster (yes, I insisted we must name it - and yes, the name I championed was the one we aligned on 🏔️). As with many things at Amazon, the reward for any of my ideas being good, is the responsibility to go make them happen (and the expectation that I have even better ones next time).

I also serve as a board member on the Computer Science Industry Advisory Board (IAB) at Hofstra University.

Prior to this role, I worked at AWS as a developer advocate, at an AI startup (Datmo) working on enterprise AI deployment and training reproducibility, and Wolfram Research to grow usage/drive improvements to Mathematica, the WolframAlpha API, and Wolfram Cloud.

I studied Applied Math & Statistics and Biomedical Engineering at Stony Brook University in New York. I was fortunate to have served as a research assistant in a number of labs, including SBU Medical Center's departments of Neurology (developing novel diagnostics for disambiguating apathy and depression) and Dermatology (burn injury progression monitoring + therapeutics, development of a commercially viable semi-permanent tattoo ink), as well as the SoMAS Marine Sciences lab focusing on shark conservation (low-cost, scalable species identification systems - using AI back when it was called "machine learning" and involved a whole bunch of linear regressions!)

In this chapter

Right now.

Fortunate (and plagued) to be intrigued by far too many things in this world. Cars (engine behind the front axle, unless it's rally), coffee (black), chronographs (especially obscure collaborations), and cameras (moreso the pictures they take, but I had to keep the alliteration). Also; video games, animation, art, music (french horn, trumpet, guitar, harmonica) when time permits - which is increasingly rare!

Never a stranger to trying new things, I'm always finding new hobbies - tennis is my recent kick. The concrete wall I hit against has yet to win, but then again, neither have I.
